Third Position (major) G Mixolydian
The fifth mode (Third Position) of the major scale is called the Mixolydian mode. It is similar to the major scale except that the seventh degree is minor rather than major
This mode is used a lot in Scots and Irish music, especially the highland bagpipe as a result of the seventh note of the scale being flatter compared to the Ionian mode. This keeps the main melody line in tune with the constant drones which are a feature of all bagpipes.
